Anton Guzev and Evgeny Svalov met in November 2001 in a nightclub in Yekaterinburg. Inspired by the early 'Renaissance Masters' and 'Renaissance Desire' series, Danny Tenaglia & Danny Howells DJ mixes, they started producing progressive house together under the alias 'Formal' in 2002, at the same time they worked with local musicians Ilya Peutin as 'Infected Voice' (trip-hop/ethnic/noise) and Oleg Mikhailenko as 'Fragile White' (deep techo). First Formal single noticed by some DJs was 'Where I Belong' (Original and 'Autumn Breaks' versions), and the second one, 'Twilight', was signed to Baroque Records in late 2004 and released under the modified alias '4Mal', it was their first 12" and the beginning of a new era for 4Mal guys on the edm scene. Nowadays Anton and Evgeny keep on producing deep melodic progressive house ('Red Dust EP' and 'First Sense EP' plus remixes for Jose Amnesia, Micah, Damien Heck, Santiago Nino, Native, Freza & DJ Flash) and experiment combining tech and prog sound in their new 'Square Coil' project. 4Mal made their debut on ONLY Records in April 2006 with their remix of 'Titania - Incriminating Evidence'.
